spaghetti tacos

My kids absolute favorite tv show is ICarly on Nickelodeon. As a matter of fact, my whole family likes the show. Including me :-) If you haven't watched the show, the charactor's favorite food is spaghetti tacos. My kids have been bugging me to make these things for them for quite some time now. I always said no. I mean, come on, spaghetti tacos?? Gross...

Well, leave to Auntie Rachie. She was watching the kids for me a couple days ago while I took Ella to the doctor. She made Devon and Nicole spaghetti tacos. Ever since, they haven't stopped asking for them. They keep telling me that I "gotta try em" and "they're the bomb" LMAO...
Today, I let Rachel make spaghetti tacos for lunch, and yes I did try them. Not the best meal I've ever had by a long shot, but surprisingly not bad and completely edible. The best part?? My kids LOVE them and it's ridiculously easy to prepare. Can't complain about something that is so easy and makes my kids so happy.

TGI...M???

It's gotta take a lot of bullshit for me to be grateful for the weekend to be over... THANK GOD IT'S MONDAY!! Such a bad weekend...
For starters, Ella's been sick all weekend. Poor thing has been fighting a fever, cough, runny nose and goopy eyes. Took her to the doc this morning. A diagnosis of bronchitis and a prescription of antibiotics later, she seems to be feeling a little bit better this evening. I'm still exhausted tho... She had me up several times a night all weekend long. Hopefully she sleeps soundly tonight, for both our sakes.
My house smells. Can't seem to fix it. The dog decided to eat something nasty. In turn, thought the middle of my living room would be a good place to vomit. Keep in mind, I've changed A LOT of disgusting diapers and dealt with more than my fair share of regurgitated food and stomach acid. I don't have a weak stomach. However, I met my match with this pile. It was everything I could do to keep my lunch down while cleaning up this stench. Pulled the carpet cleaner out, thought I got it all up. But the smell still lingers... GROSS!!
Another car broke down while in my possession on Friday. Had to borrow my dad's car to get the kids school shopping done. He couldn't fix it until Saturday morning, which wasn't too big a deal. But (yes, of course there's a but) after my dad so graciously stopped by Saturday morning and fixed the car for me, he left with my car keys sitting on the passenger seat of his car. Stuck again. But wait! There's more!
Saved the best for last... Incredibly long story, incredibly short, I was accused of cheating on my husband! The audacity of some people I swear. Thankfully, there was no harm done. My husband never believed it for even a second. Our relationship and trust for each other is much stronger than that. I guess there really is a silver lining to every situation... Our marriage was put to a pretty tough test, and passed with flying colors. I've always known we had an amazing marriage, but it was pretty cool to prove it. :-)
So, yes, I say TGIM. Doesn't happen often, and hopefully won't happen again for a long time. But I couldn't be more thrilled to have that weekend behind me.

My first blog

So... ok... I'm gonna blog. Might as well, right? I would like to think there's enough people who might be interested in what's going on with me and my little family. Not to mention it will give me a little something to do since I'm a stay at home mom for the first time in my life.
Ever since I was 16, I've always had a job. This "staying at home" is pretty new for me. So far? I LOVE IT!! I actually have the energy to do the housework and still do fun stuff with the kids. We've been to the park or pool or whatever fun stuff I can find for us to do more in the past couple months than we have in the past year! I've been trying to keep the kids occupied since Jim started his new job driving truck. That's been a HUGE adjustment for all of us. I did find it interesting that the kids seemed to do better with the change than I did.

I'm sure most everyone know Jim injured his back several years ago now. The past two years, he's pretty much been a stay at home dad, unable to work per doctor's orders. He was home ALL THE TIME!! So much actually, that I looked forward to my "alone" time and never seemed to get enough of it. Funny how fast things can change... Now he's never here and I've never missed anyone so much in my life.
He was home last weekend for a few days. It was so nice to see him, but once he hit the road again, it was so much harder to see him go. I guess you could say I had gotten used to his absence. Once he was home and then gone again so quickly... Let's just say I've been walking around the past two days in a mild depression, fighting off tears every few hours.
Thank God for my children! They are what give me the strength to get thru all this. I have to stay strong for them. Little do they know they are the one's holding me up. How ironic is that?? Devon's had a harder time having his dad gone this time around. I think it's because his birthday is this coming Wednesday and he knows Daddy is gonna miss it. Jim and I tried to make up for it by having a "mini party" for him while Jim was home, but... guess it wasn't good enough. Devon understands that when you get down to it, his dad is gonna miss his birthday. :-( We'll all be ok though. There's no doubt Devon will survive not having his dad at his birthday party.

Speaking of... my son's gonna be seven!!! Umm... when did that happen?? Where did the time go? What happened to my tiny little baby boy?? Not to mention, a week after his birthday, he starts first grade. Gotta take him and Nicole school supply shopping tomorrow. Nicole is starting middle school this year... sixth grade! I'm definately starting to feel a bit on the old side. At least my little Ella will still be at home :-) Gotta couple more years before she starts school.
I guess that'll do for my very first blog. I'm gonna play around with this and work on getting some pictures posted and whatnot. Hope you all enjoy! More to come :-)
